A fox invites a stork to dinner. “Come to my house,” he says. The fox puts soup on two flat plates. The fox drinks his soup very fast.

The stork has a long, thin beak. She cannot drink the soup. “Do you not like it?” asks the fox. He laughs. “I am not hungry,” says the stork. She goes home hungry.

A week later, the stork invites the fox. “Come to my house,” she says. She puts the food in two tall jars with narrow necks. The stork eats well. But the fox cannot reach the food. “Be kind to others,” says the stork, “and they will be kind to you.”
