A donkey finds a lion's skin in the forest. “Ha! I have an idea,” thinks the donkey. “I will be a lion!” He puts on the skin. Now he looks like a big, strong lion.

وجد حمار جلد أسد في الغابة. فكّر الحمار: «ها! عندي فكرة. سأصير أسدًا!» لبس الجلد. الآن يبدو أسدًا كبيرًا وقويًا.

الخوف

He walks through the forest. All the animals run away. “Help! A lion!” they shout. The donkey is very happy. “Everybody is afraid of me,” he thinks.

مشى في الغابة. هربت كل الحيوانات. صاحت: «النجدة! أسد!» كان الحمار سعيدًا جدًا. فكّر: «الكل يخاف مني».

الصوت

A fox is near. The fox does not run. He just looks. The donkey wants to roar. But it comes out: “Hee-haw! Hee-haw!” The fox laughs. “I know you now,” he says. “You are only a donkey!” All the animals laugh at the donkey.

ثعلب قريب. لم يهرب الثعلب. فقط نظر. أراد الحمار أن يزأر. لكن خرج صوته: «نهيق! نهيق!» ضحك الثعلب: «عرفتك الآن. أنت مجرد حمار!» ضحكت كل الحيوانات على الحمار.
